Lord Ogilvy's Regiment / le régiment d'Ogilvie

The regimental
Colour of le Régiment d'Ogilvie
Le Régiment d'Ogilvie was raised by David, Lord Ogilvy in 1747, disbanded 1763. Not to be confused with the regiment he raised in Scotland and commanded during the '45.

Officers included John Cameron, Presbyterian minister with the Jacobite army.

Perhaps the best known member of the regiment was Alan Breck Stewart, generally held to have been the murderer of Colin Campbell of Glenure. Stevensons fictional character is more closely based upon John Roy Stewart, himself at one time an officer in the Royal Ecossais.
